The Port Orchard Rotary to gives back to our community in multiple ways, including:

Community Projects

·   Partnering with Soroptimist International of Port Orchard every December, we provide festive gifts and holiday meals to over 200 people through the Port Orchard Cares program.

·   Providing $14,000-$20,000 in academic and vocational scholarships each year.

·   Partnering with SKHS each year by supporting Rachel’s Challenge, student awards, Business Week, FFA, Ready for Kindergarten, and special projects that support literacy and student learning.

·   Participating in, and sending students to, the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, which is Rotary’s leadership training program for young people, ages 14-30.

·   Raising funds to continually support Rotary International’s “Polio Plus Program”, whose goal is to eradicate polio world-wide, and…we are 99% there!

·   Contributing to the “Backpacks for Kids” program; this ensures that over 300 local kids go home on Friday with food for the weekend.

·   Maintaining a small fish hatchery on Karcher Creek.  Annually fish eggs are fertilized, incubated, and released in the creek.

·   Providing warm clothing for our local Veterans at Retsil every winter.

·   Supporting local youth activities.

Community Partnerships

·   Maintaining strategic partnerships and supporting: Coffee Oasis, South Kitsap Skate Park, Jingle Bell Run, Festival of Chimes and Lights, Boy Scouts, Harmony Hill Cancer Retreat, Relay for Life, Helpline, Fathoms of Fun, Military Families, and American Veterans who all help to identify needs in our community and ensure that the funds reach those in need.
